Becoming A Member

At the end of the worship service, we will sing a hymn of commitment. During this time you are invited to walk to the front of the church to respond to the leadership of the Holy Spirit you sense in your heart or mind.

Our pastor will be at the front to talk with you about your decision. If you need further information or counseling, we will be glad to arrange for it at that time.

You may do so by walking to the front of the church during the hymn of commitment and telling the pastor that you are making one of the following decisions:

• I want to trust Jesus Christ as Lord but do not understand how. I need someone to help me.
• I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord and desire new testament baptism.
• I have previously received Jesus Christ as my savior and Lord. The church I joined did not practice baptism by immersion so I want to be baptized and join the First Newark Baptist Church.
• I am a member of a sister Baptist church and want to join First Newark Baptist Church on promise of a letter from that church.
• I have previously received Christ and was baptized into a church by New Testament baptism, but the record of my church membership has been destroyed, is unavailable, or I have been a member of another denomination and wish to return to a Baptist Church.
