Site History by J.K. Brooke,Webmaster

I was checking the internet for churches in the area and found there were not that many that had web sites. It seemed to me a web site for a church would be a an ideal way to reach out to people looking for a place to worship and a "New Beginning".

Armed with a background in the IT world before I retired, I decided it was time for my church to be on the world wide web. For a long time I had been toying with the idea of publishing any one of several web pages. I would tinker with this one and then another, but couldn't settle on a single project. However, I began to focus on a church design and overcame my inability to concentrate. With the Lord's help, and the owners manual for HoTMetaL Pro 6.0, beginning with Chapter 1, page 1, and line 1, I began the rudiments of what has become our current web site. It was and is my desire to produce a "living" web site, in that it would be updated weekly, monthly, or even daily if necessary, for those members who wanted to keep track of church activities.

This web site development began in 1997 and was first published on August 23, 1998. The First Newark Web Site has undergone several iterations since then each becoming more relevant to the mission and the spirit of the church. By December 6, 2000, 3950 visitors had visited our original home page.

The web site was completely redesigned and published again in December 2000. Since that time we have enjoyed 7527 visitor to our home page.

By 2005 the site had grown to over 100 pages and was updated weekly with current events of the church activities and enjoying the growing church and web activities. By this time we were consuming all of the free server space provided by the local IP. I was posting new pages with photos, and having to delete lesser used pages, and redesign others to conserve space. Something had to be done.

We now have a new service provider, and a grand amount of space to play with, "at least for the time being." With God's help and the user manual still at hand I will continue to develop and maintain the First Newark Web Site.

As a result, I went on to publish several other sites which I continue to maintain under the name of Tiegertime Web Designs. You might think I have a business to run now. Not true, I have a passion for developing and watching a site come together. I don't know if I am talented or just a bloke who likes what he does. I suspect it is the later.

As developer and publisher of this site I reserve the right to make all modifications and updates. If you have any suggestions, comments, or wish to have an item added, please send me an e-mail and I will jump on it right after my nap.
